St Anthony

Saint Anthony is the patron saint of lost things.  As a child, whenever I would lose something, my Mother would tell me to say a little prayer to Saint Anthony and he would help me find it.  Somehow, it always seems to work.  My Grandma had a framed statue of Saint Anthony hanging in the parlour of her little old house and now, I have it.

This one of my favourite pieces of "memorabilia" from my Grandma but I've been afraid to hang it as it seems so fragile.

This is the back of the piece

One day I will need to find the right place for Saint Anthony but in the meantime, I will share him with you at Claudia's A Favourite Thing party.

  1. A treasure. Perhaps there is a stand to give support to your St. Anthony. Visiting from Mockingbird House Favorites.

  3. Oh, I love that -I've never seen a framed statue like that. I always pray to St. Anthony and Anthony is my sons name. I'd love to find a painting some day to hang in my bedroom.

  5. What a treasure that statue is, Julie! Can you prop it against a wall and create some sort of vignette with it?

Thanks so much for joining in this week!

  6. Some of the things I cherish the most are things passed down from parents and grandparents. I think you should find a way to hang it or display it on a shelf - whatever it takes to put it somewhere where you will see it often and enjoy it more.

  7. Your statue is so lovely, Julie, and so precious since it belonged to your grandmother. I hope you're able to find just the right place for it. St. Anthony is revered in our home, too, along with St. Francis. Thank you for sharing this!
